Sister Patricia Johannsen, SCL, grew up on a farm in Montana, and answered God's call to religious life by 
joining the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth in faraway Kansas. She spent over four years in South Sudan, training teachers as part of the Solidarity with South Sudan ministry. She currently serves at the Interfaith Community of Hope, a homeless shelter in Leavenworth.

So you are arriving into Leavenworth sight unseen, and you have never taken a plane before. Wow. Wow. Did you have any fears, reservations in taking such a big life choice?
Sister Pat
You know what, I clearly remember thinking this: I was thinking, "This plane could crash. Well, I guess if this plane crashes, that will be a sign that I'm not supposed to be a sister. But if it doesn't crash, it's a sign that I that I made the right decision." Yes, that that was my reasoning at 17!
